IMTEC-TPO-Antibodies is an indirect solid-phase enzyme immunoassay (ELISA) for the quantitative measurement of IgG class autoantibodies against thyroid peroxidase (TPO) in human serum. The assay is intended for in vitro diagnostic use only as an aid in the diagnosis of autoimmune thyroid diseases.
Autoantibodies to thyroid antigens play an important role in the pathogenesis, diagnostics and differential diagnostics of autoimmune thyroid diseases. These antibodies can be detected in about 90% of patients with Hashimoto's disease. 99% of these have antibodies to thyroid peroxidase (anti-TPO antibodies).
