The P.A.C.T. SIGEN 2+ Signal Transmitter Builder’s Kit consists of the P.A.C.T. SIGEN 2+ Signal Transmitter, a Carry Bag, a 100mm Signal Clamp, and a 5-metre Sonde (33kHz). There are four P.A.C.T. The P.A.C.T. SIGEN 2+ Signal Transmitter can be used with P.A.C.T.’s S2 and V2 Pipe and Cable Locators, or another cable locator capable of receiving 33kHz signals, to located buried services. This reduces strike rates and allows builders to conduct construction and maintenance work safely, effectively and, subsequently, more efficiently.
The P.A.C.T. SIGEN 2+ Signal Transmitter’s high-impact ABS construction and IP54 rating make it suitable for use on rugged, outdoor building sites. Furthermore, this instrument is CE tested.
The P.A.C.T. SIGEN 2+ Signal Transmitter features two modes of operation, Induction and Connection; it also includes high- and low- volume and power outputs allowing the user to tailor the P.A.C.T. SIGEN 2+ Signal Transmitter to suit the application. When set to issue a high-power output the P.A.C.T. SIGEN 2+ Signal Transmitter can determine a familiar and continuous tone. The P.A.C.T. SIGEN 2+ Signal Transmitter features an easy-to-use switch for changing between high- and low-power outputs.
In addition to this, the P.A.C.T. SIGEN 2+ Signal Transmitter’s high-volume output facilitates the user’s ability to establish a better connection tone; whilst its low-volume output makes the P.A.C.T. SIGEN 2+ Signal Transmitter suitable for use in quiet locations.
Also expanding the P.A.C.T. SIGEN 2+ Signal Transmitter’s scope-for-use is its isolated transformer which allows it to be connected to a mains supply (max mains rating: 230V AC) via a 3-pin plug connector.
Furthermore, the P.A.C.T. SIGEN 2+ Signal Transmitter is supplied with an earth stake and connection leads, as well as a manufacturer’s calibration to ensure reliability and functionality.
The P.A.C.T. SIGEN 2+ Signal Transmitter also includes eight fitted AA batteries capable of supplying the instrument with up to forty hours of continuous power. The absence of an audible tone indicates that the batteries require replacing.
The P.A.C.T. SIGEN 2+ Signal Transmitter is a practical, precise and adaptable tool suitable for locating, tracing and avoiding buried cables and pipes on building sites.
The P.A.C.T. 100mm Signal Clamp allows the user to apply a signal directly to the cable-under-investigation. When used with P.A.C.T.’s SIGEN 2+ Signal Transmitter and one of P.A.C.T.’s S2 or V2 TOMKAT Pipe and Cable Locators, the P.A.C.T. 100mm Signal Clamp is able to detect and trace buried insulated cables, such as those used by street lamps.
The P.A.C.T. 100mm Signal Clamp is operated using the following method:
1.) Plug the signal clamp’s plug into the SIGEN 2+’s connection socket, found in its accessory compartment
2.) Place the clamp’s jaws around the cable-under-investigation, ensuring that the jaws are completely shut
3.) Turn on the SIGEN 2+
4.) Set the P.A.C.T. TOMKAT Pipe and Cable Locator to Genny (Generator) mode
5.) Trace the cable
The wide, 100mm diameter of the P.A.C.T. Signal Clamp ensures that good contact is made with the conductor, without having to remove the cable’s insulation. In this way, a signal can be applied directly to the cable.
The P.A.C.T. 100mm Signal Clamp is a simple-to-use instrument suitable for safely expanding the P.A.C.T. SIGEN 2+’s and TOMKAT’s scope-for-use.
The P.A.C.T. 5-metre Sonde (33kHz) is a small, self-contained, battery operated and waterproof tool. It is designed to be attached to drain rods and similar movable tools optimised for use inside non-metallic pipes.
