BV EH36 Marine Steel Plate | How to get Bureau Veritas (BV) Certification for Marine & Offshore
What is ShipBuildng Steel Plate , Marine Grade Plate ?
Shipbuilding steel plate refers to hot-rolled steel for the manufacture of ship structures produced based on the requirements of the construction society.
It can be classified into general strength structural steel and high strength structural steel according to its minimum yield point strength level.
Shipbuilding plate or marine grade steel plates are manufactured according to
DNV-GL
RINA (Registro Italiano Navale)
BV (Bureau Veritas)
LR (Lloyd's Register of Shipping)
ABS (American Bureau of Shipping)
RMRS (Russian Maritime Register of Shipping)
How to develop Shipbuilding Steel Plate ?
Shipbuilding needs huge quantities of structural steel plate to build the ship hull.
Currently shipbuilding steel can be developed into 2 series :
High Strength and Corrosion Resistant Steels which will be used for modern shipping, this can reduce the ship weight and also the maintenance costs.
Traditionally shipbuilding uses structural steel plate to fabricate the ship hulls.
As compared to the traditional structural steel plates , shipbuilding marine steel plate is better steel type for oil tanks. Besides , it is less weight and the fuel cost + CO2 emission can be reduced.
Shipbuilding steel plates are mainly used for cabin structures on cruise ships. Particularly thin plates are used in large widths for such applications. These sheets show best processing properties such as flatness and weldability.
While High Strength, thermomechanically rolled ship plates are mainly used in offshore sector. It is used for deck superstructures on platforms or for special ships in the oil & gas industry.
BV Certification Performed at E Steel :
E Steel is pleased to have Bureau Veritas Malaysia (BV) to review the shipbuilding marine steel plate supplied to the offshore marine industry. Before sending to the offshore project site , it is required to certified by the Bureau Veritas Malaysia (BV) Surveyor who visited our warehouse and do punch marking a code given by the BV.
* A loose cut is needed to cut from the plate , to perform mechanical test before sending for BV Certification.
