- Tungsten electrode: The tungsten electrode is the part of the torch that actually melts and creates the weld. Tungsten is a very hard metal that can withstand high temperatures, making it ideal for TIG welding.
- Cooling system: The cooling system is used to cool the torch body and tungsten electrode. There are two main types of cooling systems: air-cooled and water-cooled. Air-cooled torches are less expensive, but they are not as effective at cooling the torch body and electrode. Water-cooled torches are more expensive, but they provide better cooling and can be used for more demanding welding applications.
