Starfruits with their cute, star-shaped sections are one of the representative fruits of Okinawa. While they are mildly acidic and have a slushy texture when consumed raw, they are also enjoyed in the form of delightful sweets, such as tropical fruit tarts with plentiful portions of the fruit as well as jams that are addictively sweet and sour. Of course, we cannot forget to mention the beautifying effects of their high vitamin C content, either! Be sure to give them a try when in season between October and February.
