Hyundai To Launch EVs Globally With More Than 900 Km Range

Globally, Hyundai Motor has put the focus on EVs and also hybrids as it has outlined its strategy. Going forward, Hyundai aims to sell 5.55 million cars globally till 2030. A large chunk of that would be EVs as it aims to sell around 2 million of them by 2030.

Of interest is the launch of new EREV models, a new type of EV with a range of more than 900 km on a single charge. The plan is to make 21 EVs by 2030 and also reduce battery cost. It will develop affordable NCM batteries and the EREV is a new kind of extended range electric car which would be offered in some global markets where the range would be more than 900 km.

Hybrids would also be on the table with HEV offerings being taken to 14 models from the current seven plus its ultra luxury Genesis brand will also offer hybrid models. Hence, it will offer more electric models including, SUVs while for India, the Creta EV is being readied as the next big launch for the brand along with being its first mass market EV offering below the Kona and the Ioniq 5. Going forward, the brand will introduce more EVs for India while also launching more products too.

We expect production of the Creta EV to start from this year and it will possibly be launched by next year. EVs with more range are certainly the need of the hour and these new extended range models rival that of a hybrid in terms of full range offered while it will surely bring in more interest for EVs along with making them suitable for long journeys without charging them. As for now, we will get the Creta EV while globally Hyundai will increase its electrified portfolio also.
