Papar: A Mother-Daughter Dream Turned Reality

Benoni New Township is more than just a commercial development—it’s the realization of a lifelong dream. Spearheaded by entrepreneur  Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen, this ambitious project in Malaysia stands as a tribute to her mother and their shared vision of transforming their hometown into a modern, thriving township.

A Story Rooted in Family and Growth

During a recent "Meet the Entrepreneurs" event with PUMM Sabah, Datuk Susan Wong shared the story behind Benoni New Township and its connection to Parklane City. What started as an idea to uplift the local economy has now become a growing business hub.

The inspiration for this transformation traces back to Datuk Susan's mother. Their dream was simple yet powerful—to turn their home into a place where families could prosper, businesses could thrive, and communities could grow. Years later, that dream has taken shape in the form of a bustling modern township.

From Farmland to Urban Landmark

The journey began with an unexpected opportunity. Through a chance encounter, Huang acquired this once a quiet and unassuming area. Over time, it evolved into a lively commercial and residential district, drawing in both businesses and investors.  Click Here >>> SinChew Daily's Post

The project has received recognition for its impact, earning awards such as "Best Emerging Township Developer" and "Most Outstanding Commercial Developer". But beyond accolades, what stands out is the transformation it has brought to the region.

A key highlight of Parklane is the newly developed cinema, an addition that brings entertainment closer to the community. For many local residents, having access to a modern theater right in their neighborhood is a small but significant change, making leisure activities more accessible.

A Growing Demand for Business & Lifestyle

With the rapid development, the demand for retail space has surged. Over the past two years, the area has seen a significant rise in property value, reflecting its increasing appeal as a commercial hub. Businesses that have set up here range from local brands to international franchises, shaping a diverse and vibrant environment.

The district is also home to a mix of lifestyle and entertainment establishments. From shopping outlets to well-known food chains, the presence of 10Stars Cinema, Watsons, CKS Supermarket, Secret Recipe, 4 Fingers, A&W, and Burger King, and CrazyMic adds to its lively character. Meanwhile, the upcoming launch of the DOMAIO and major banking institutions further cements its role as a key urban center.

The Residential Boom in Bar City

Beyond its commercial success, Parklane is seeing a wave of interest in its residential projects. The first phase of 860 housing units quickly sold out, with new developments already underway. The area is gradually shaping into a self-sustaining township, blending modern infrastructure with a strong sense of community.

What started as a personal vision has now become a shared success story—one that continues to unfold as Bar City grows. It’s a testament to the power of perseverance, opportunity, and the desire to build something meaningful for future generations.

Unwavering Belief, A Commitment to the End

Datuk Susan Wong lives by the motto: "Success belongs to those who never give up, and those who give up will never succeed." She encourages young entrepreneurs to stay true to their original vision, uphold their beliefs, and persevere through challenges.

Beyond business, she urges young people to care for society, engage in charitable work, and contribute to non-profit organizations. She believes in using personal success to uplift communities, especially the underprivileged, fostering a society built on empathy and shared growth.

At a recent entrepreneur forum, industry leaders and business figures gathered to discuss their journeys, challenges, and aspirations.

The event concluded with an invitation-only gathering, where guests enjoyed a special screening of "8 Bucks Tycoon" at 10Stars Cinema—a moment of reflection on resilience and ambition.
