Approved for use as adjunctive therapy for partial seizures, with or without secondary generalization, in adults and children aged 3+ years. Also indicated for peripheral neuropathic pain in adults (e.g., diabetic neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia).
Dosage (Adults):
Typically 300–3600 /mg/day, divided into 3 doses.
In peripheral neuropathic pain, starting dose is often 300 /mg once daily, titrated as needed. Dosing adjustment required for renal impairment.
Administration:
May be taken with or without food.
Swallow capsules whole with sufficient water; do not chew or crush.
Duration:
Seizures: Continue as prescribed by your neurologist, with periodic review.
Neuropathic pain: Typically taken for several weeks to months—follow your physician’s duration guidance.
