Olanzapine
Indication
Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder.
Instruction
Place tab in mouth, it will rapidly disperse & may be swallowed with or without water. Alternatively, tab may be dispersed in a full glass of water or other suitable beverage (orange juice, apple juice, milk or coffee) immediately before administration.
Drug interaction
CYP1A2 inducers/inhibitors. Induced metabolism by smoking & carbamazepine. Metabolism inhibition by fluvoxamine. Reduced bioavailability by activated charcoal. Antagonized effects of direct & indirect dopamine agonists. Alcohol & medicinal products that may cause CNS depression. Concomitant use w/ anti-Parkinsonian & QTc interval increasing medicines.
