Mefenamic acid
Indication
Relief of fever & mild to moderate pain including headache, dental pain, post-op pain, dysmenorrhoea; musculoskeletal & joint disorders eg, OA & RA.
Instruction
Should be taken with food: Take immediately after meals. Adult 500 mg then 250 mg 6 hrly. Childn >6 mth 25 mg/kg daily in divided doses. Max duration: 7 days.
Drug interaction
Oral anticoagulants, lithium, methotrexate, cardiac glycosides, ACE inhibitors, β-blockers, diuretics, quinolones, phenytoin, sulfonylurea antidiabetics, corticosteroids.
