Vancomycin HCl
Indication
Serious or severe infections caused by susceptible strains of methicillin-resistant (β-lactam-resistant) staphylococci in penicillin-allergic patients & who cannot receive or have failed to respond to penicillins or cephalosporins. Infections caused by vancomycin-susceptible organisms resistant to other antimicrobial drugs.
Instruction
Administer via Parenteral/IV.
Drug interaction
Potentiated nephrotoxicity &/or ototoxicity w/ other potentially neurotoxic &/or nephrotoxic active substances particularly gentamycin, amphotericin B, streptomycin, neomycin, kanamycin, amikacin, tobramycin, viomycin, bacitracin, polymyxin B, colistin, cisplatin. Anaphylactoid reactions w/ anesth agents. Enhanced & prolonged effect of muscle relaxants eg, succinylcholine. Physical incompatibilities w/ β-lactam soln.
