Deskripsyon

Saturn Pyro provides comprehensive Electrical Arc Flash Hazard Study Services based on Power Systems Modelling on ETAP.
ETAP is the most comprehensive analysis platform for the design, simulation, operation, and automation of generation, distribution, and industrial power systems.
ETAP offers an integrated and interactive software solution for modeling, design, analysis, simulation, operation, control, optimization, and automation of electrical power systems.

Arc Flash Hazard Assessment Studies
We help you in carrying out Arc Flash Hazard Assessment Studies, which includes:
  • Site Assessment
  • Review of Electrical SLD, updating the SLD to reflect current status.
  • Collection of protection settings and other data for Arc Flash Hazard Assessment studies.
  • Data entry into ETAP power system modelling software – includes short circuit analysis, relay co-ordination followed by Arc Flash Hazard Assessment Report
  • Generation of report (SLD, Short-Circuit, Protection Co-ordination, Load Flow & Arc Flash Hazard Assessment)
  • Generation of labels & define boundaries.
  • Conduct awareness and training to general and site-specific requirements

WHAT SATURNPYRO OFFERS?
SaturnPyro provides comprehensive power system studies on ETAP covering:
  • Single Line Diagram Update
  • Short Circuit & Protection Co-ordination Report
  • Load Flow Report
  • Arc Flash Hazard Assessment
  • Labelling & Boundary Marking
  • PPE & Training
Basis of arc flash assessment is accurate calculation of short circuit levels, review of protection settings and co-ordinating them to optimum value.
ETAP is most reliable and globally recognized software tool. Use of ETAP for power system studies including arc flash assessment helps maintaining common platform ensuring reliability of results and smooth execution of project.

               What / Where
    • ETAP Study is about creating a digital twin of the facility.
    • Audit and collect data of all the equipment, loads, relays, breakers & cables (sizes, type, make, model, setting & configuration)
    • Does NOT involve ANY SHUTDOWN (Non-Intrusive)
         Why / How
    • ETAP Study will allow the simulation of operation & faults.
    • ETAP will generate the latest updated SLD of the facility upon completion of the audit & data collection.
    • Power system modelling is done by simulation of the facility operation under normal condition & with faults. Reports will be generated on Load Flow, Protection Co-ordination & Short Circuit Study with highlighted concerns and recommended actions.
    • Finally, the Arc Flash Analysis report will be generated with hazard warning labels.
          Client
    • Provide the last available SLD of the facility.
    • Escort SaturnPyro team throughout the facility and provide data collection access (visual). This may include opening the electrical panels so that the details can be obtained.
    • Provide information on connected equipment, loads, relay settings, breaker settings & historical issues & events related to electrical systems & safety.
Arc Flash Hazard Assessment Objectives
NFPA 70E defines various measures to ensure workplace safety against arc flash hazard including:
  • Carry out arc flash hazard assessment.
  • Compute incident energy levels at key locations.
  • Identify suitable PPE vs work vs location.
  • Furnish details on the warning label (OSHA asks employers to provide warning labels defining arc flash hazard at a particular location and employees are required to follow the rules).
Carry out awareness and training on Arc Flash Hazards, Safety Measures & use of PPE

Arc Flash Hazard Assessment

Arc Flash Hazard Arc Flash Warning Label

  1. Warning header
  2. Incident energy at the dimension between the possible arc point and the head and body of the worker positioned in place to perform the assigned task
  3. Incident energy in calories/cm2 or Joules/cm2 of thermal energy at a working distance from an arc fault.
  4. Arc flash boundary is the shortest distance at which a person working at the time of an arc-flash may receive permanent injury (the onset of a second degree burn or worse) if not properly protected by flame-resistant (FR) clothing.
  5. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Each hazard risk category requires a different level of protection. Categories range from 1 to 4. Category “0” was removed in the NFPA 70E 2015
  6. Limited Approach” and “Restricted Approach” fields arerelated Shock Hazard Approach Boundaries. These boundaries are defined in more detail in our Arc Flash Workplace Safety Guide. The “prohibited  approach” boundary was removed in the 2015 NFPA 70E edition.
  7. Shock Risk when Cover is Removed at voltage of the equipment.

WHAT IS ELECTRICAL ARC FLASH?

An Arc flash is the result of an electrical fault that leads to the release of extremely high energy. Risk of Arc flash is present at practically all electrical installations.
Severity of arc flash depends on service voltage and fault level. Arc flash could cause serious damage to property and human life.
Arc flash hazard within an electrical installation must be identified, assessed and labelled to caution personnel against possible risk and use of protection gear.
Remember, risk of arc flash always exists, and we may only be able to minimize the risk through awareness, training, labelling and use of PPE around electrical installations. Electrical installations always pack large amounts of energy and therefore awareness of Arc Flash Hazard is an important aspect of electrical safety.

HOW TO ENSURE WORKPLACE SAFETY AGAINST ARC FLASH?

ARC FLASH HAZARD STANDARDS – INDUSTRY RECOGNITION OF HAZARD
  1. OSHA 1910.335
  2. NFPA 70E
  3. IEEE 1584
  • Arc Flash Hazard Assessment Studies
  • Use of “Hazard” notification labels
  • Use of proper PPE
  • Workplace safety practices referred to arc flash hazard
  • Design & testing of switchboards
