Taekwondo is a martial art and modern competitive sport originated from Korea. Its name consists of three Korean characters: *"Tae", which means kicking with the feet; "Kwon", which means hitting with the fists; "Do", which means a way of practice or a spiritual path. Taekwondo is based on a variety of leg and fist techniques, combined with defense, blocking and throwing techniques to form a comprehensive offensive and defensive system.

### Etiquette and spiritual cultivation:
Taekwondo not only attaches importance to technical training, but also emphasizes etiquette and spiritual cultivation. Etiquette is one of the core of Taekwondo, and every student is required to strictly abide by it. At the beginning and end of training, students must salute their coaches, companions and dojo (training ground) to show respect. Taekwondo etiquette is not only formal, but also an important means to cultivate moral qualities such as humility, respect, persistence and self-discipline. Through long-term etiquette training, students not only improve their physical fitness, but also grow spiritually, and gradually form the character of a warrior.

### History and Development:
The origins of Taekwondo can be traced back to ancient Korean martial arts traditions such as "Hwarangdo" and "Taekkyon". Modern Taekwondo was formed in the 1950s after the integration and improvement of several Korean martial artists and experts, and was promoted to the world by General Choi Hong-hee, commander of the Korean Army. Since 2000, Taekwondo has also become an official Olympic event, further enhancing its international influence.

### Global Influence:
Today, Taekwondo has millions of practitioners around the world, and the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF) and the World Taekwondo Federation (WT) are its main international organizations, which manage different styles of Taekwondo respectively. As a symbol of culture and sport, Taekwondo continues to spread its unique skills and spirit around the world.
