The HI3854 is a chemical test kit that uses an adaptation of the zincon method to measure zinc. The HI3854 is supplied complete with all of the reagents and equipment necessary to perform 100 tests.
Complete setup
All required materials are included with the test kit, such as the color comparison cube and reagent packets.
High resolution
Readings from 0.0 to 3.0 mg/L zinc are determined to 0.6 mg/L resolution.
Replacement reagents available
There is no need to buy a new kit when reagents are exhausted. The HI3854-100 reagent set can be ordered to replace the reagents supplied with the kit. This reagent set comes with 100 packets HI3854A-0 reagent and 2 (60mL) bottles of HI93731B-0 reagent.
Zinc is widely used in alloys (brass, bronze, and dye-casting alloys), in galvanizing iron and other metals, also as a fungicide. It is also an essential growth element in human diet. But with concentrations higher than 5 mg/L, it gives a bitter taste to water and opalescence to alkaline water. Zinc can enter the domestic water supply from the deterioration of galvanized iron and dezincification of brass. Note: mg/L is equivalent to ppm (parts per million).
