Instructions for Using FEP16DTA

  1. Power Supply:

    • Ensure the supply voltage (VDD) is within the specified range of 2.7V to 5.5V.
    • Connect VSS (GND) to the system ground.
  2. Communication Interface:

    • Choose either SPI or I2C for communication.
    • For SPI:
      • Connect SCK (Serial Clock), MOSI (Master Out Slave In), MISO (Master In Slave Out), and CS (Chip Select) pins to the corresponding pins on your microcontroller.
    • For I2C:
      • Connect SCL (Serial Clock) and SDA (Serial Data) pins to the corresponding pins on your microcontroller.
      • Ensure pull-up resistors are connected to both SCL and SDA lines.
  3. Initialization:

    • Power up the device and initialize the communication interface.
    • Send the appropriate commands to set the initial wiper position.
  4. Setting Wiper Position:

    • Use the Write Wiper command to set the wiper position.
    • The wiper position can be set from 0 to 255 (8-bit resolution).
  5. Reading Wiper Position:

    • Use the Read Wiper command to read the current wiper position.
  6. Non-Volatile Memory:

    • To store the wiper position in non-volatile memory, use the Store Wiper command.
    • This ensures the wiper position is retained even when the power is off.
  7. Reset:

    • To reset the device to its default state, use the Reset command.
    • This will set the wiper position to 0 and clear any stored values in non-volatile memory.
  8. Power Down:

    • When not in use, place the device in a low-power mode by setting the appropriate command.
    • This reduces power consumption to the quiescent level.
  9. Handling and Storage:

    • Store the device in a dry environment to prevent moisture damage.
    • Handle with care to avoid static discharge, which can damage the device.
  10. Troubleshooting:

    • If the device does not respond, check the power supply and communication connections.
    • Ensure the correct commands are being sent and the device is properly initialized.
