Botox is a protein made from Botulinum toxin, produced by the clostridium botulinum bacterium.
How does Botox work?
Botulinum toxin is fast becoming the treatment of choice for the reduction, elimination and prevention of fine lines and wrinkles. When injected directly into a muscle it blocks the release of a substance called acetylcholine, the substance responsible for transmitting electrical impulses that elicit muscle contraction. Restricting the contraction of certain muscles gives improvement cosmetically on the surface of the skin where lines have accumulated.
Expected Results
The results will vary between individuals. Assessment and expected clinical outcomes will be fully delivered and explained in the consultation.
Fine lines can be expected to disappear after one treatment and botulinum toxin will also greatly minimize and prevent the formulation of new lines.
Moderate lines can be expected to appear a lot softer, smoother and in some cases disappear depending on the severity of them.
Severe lines and permanent muscle contraction can be expected to appear softer, lifted and release tension.

How many treatment sessions are needed?
Typically, the effects of Botox last for up to 3 to 4 months. Therefore, the recommended treatment is once every 3 to 4 months. Nonetheless, if your facial muscles begin to train themselves to contract less, the period of time for each treatment may be extended longer than 3 or 4 months.
