Edetate disodium
Indication
Used to lower blood levels of calcium when they have become dangerously high. EDTA is also used to control heart rhythm disturbances caused by a heart medication called digitalis (digoxin, Lanoxin).
Instruction
The medicine must be given slowly through an IV infusion and can take at least 3 hours to complete.
Drug interaction
There may be other drugs that can interact with EDTA. Tell your doctor about all your prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start a new medication without telling your doctor.
