Diclofenac Na
Indication
Acute, severe pain due to inflammatory & degenerative form of rheumatism, RA, ankylosing spondylitis, OA. Post-traumatic pain, inflammation & swelling; pain following dental surgery. Acute gout attack.
Instruction
IM Adult 1 amp daily, may be increased to 2 amp for severe cases. Max: 150 mg daily. Duration: Not to be given >2 days.
Drug interaction
Hypoglycaemic & hyperglycaemic effects w/ oral antidiabetic agents. Increased risk of haemorrhage w/ anticoagulant therapy. Increased plasma conc of lithium & digoxin. Impaired renal excretion w/ methotrexate. Nephrotoxicity w/ cyclosporin. Increased risk of GI bleeding w/ aspirin or corticosteroids. Convulsions w/ quinolones. Increased serum K levels w/ K-sparing diuretics. Exacerbated cardiac failure, reduced GFR & increased plasma glycoside levels w/ cardiac glycosides. Decreased effect of antihypertensives eg, β-blockers, ACE inhibitors, diuretics. Reduced mifepristone effect.
