Salbutamol sulfate
Indication
Relief & prevention of symptoms in mild, moderate or severe asthma.
Instruction
Evohaler Relief of acute bronchospasm Adult & childn 100-200 mcg. Prevention of allergen- or exercise-induced bronchospasm Adult 200 mcg before exertion. Childn 100-200 mcg before exertion. Chronic therapy Adult & childn Up to 200 mcg qds.
Drug interaction
Acute severe asthma potentiated by xanthine derivatives, steroids, diuretics & hypoxia. Corticosteroids can potentiate ketoacidosis. Should not be prescribed w/ β-blocking drugs eg, propranolol. Caution when using w/ other inhaled sympathomimetic bronchodilators or epinephrine, MAOIs or TCAs & digoxin. Respirator soln & nebules: Acute angle closure glaucoma w/ ipratropium Br.
