Cefixime trihydrate
Indication
Uncomplicated UTI, otitis media, pharyngitis & tonsillitis; Strep pyogenes infections including prophylaxis of rheumatic fever. Acute bronchitis & acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. Uncomplicated multidrug resistant & quinolone-resistant typhoid fever.
Instruction
May be taken with or without food.
Drug interaction
Elevated carbamazepine levels. Increased prothrombin time w/ anticoagulants. Increased peak serum conc & AUC w/ probenecid. Increased oral bioavailability w/ nifedipine. False +ve urine glucose & direct Coombs' test.
