Silicone Rubber
Silicone rubber is a type of synthetic elastomer, with it’s exceptional high and low temperature range without failure, being able to operate normally from −100 to 260°C (−148 to 500°F), making it a very thermally stable material and flame retardant. Silicone rubber is very excellent electrical insulating properties, resistance to animal and vegetable oils, diluted acids, ozone, and oxidation and water absorption. Silicone rubber has very good resistance to arcing, ultra violet light and ozone. Suitable for applications with food and drink. AEP Venture provides silicone rubber in a range of colors including white, translucent, red, and black. Not suitable for applications requiring resistance to high tensile strength, tear strength, and abrasion. This makes silicone rubber one of the elastomers of choice in many extreme environments.
