Wall-Mounted vs Pillar-Mounted Faucets

Installing a faucet can be one of the most straightforward DIY jobs out there. That being said,  there are some aspects to consider like the colour and finishing of the faucet and how they should be mounted. Even if you’re hiring a plumber, it’s good to have an idea of what you want for your sink-and-faucet setup. In this article, we’ll be looking at some distinctive details of wall and pillar-mounted faucets to guide you in choosing the best taps to complement your bathroom and kitchen design.

Pillar-Mounted Faucets

Pillar or deck-mounted faucets are more commonly used worldwide as they’re much simpler and quicker to install. For instance, many vanities come with pre-drilled holes which allow them to be installed immediately hence this faucet type can easily connect to the water supply lines below the sink.

As for maintenance, you can wipe the tap down with a damp cloth and mild soap every day to maintain its shine. Use a small brush (e.g., a toothbrush) to scrub seams and crevices around the faucet to prevent any grime or germs from building up.

An advantage of using pillar-mounted faucets is their timeless aesthetic that goes with most if not all bathrooms and kitchens designs. With various pillar-faucet parts to play around with like installation locations, finishes, neck, spout, and handle styles you will never get bored.

Wall-Mounted Faucets

No mystery here, a wall-mounted faucet is attached to a wall behind the sink. The supply pipes for these faucets are behind the wall so you’ll have to open the wall up to get to the supply lines which can be laborious. Nevertheless, this eliminates the need for drilling faucet holes on the sink or countertop.

One of the main advantages of this mounting style is its flexibility - the faucets can be placed almost anywhere. They are space savers which is ideal for small & narrow counters as it allows you to push the sink closer to the wall.

Since your sinks see a lot of use in a week, it’s important to clean your sink area regularly.  Still, using a wall-mounted faucet cuts us some slack as they leave the countertop free of hardware which makes them easier to clean than pillar-mounted types.

Can I create a wall and pillar-mounted design?

You absolutely can! This is called a hybrid mounting style - by installing one element or hardware on the deck and the other on the wall. Oftentimes, the spout of the faucet is mounted on the wall along with the handle being on the right side of the deck. This unique and beautiful design will truly create a one-of-a-kind space.

Functional yet Stylish

Today faucets are no longer purely utilitarian they also provide us a chance to innovate & enjoy a beautiful and relaxing space after a long day. Which is better? Wall or Pillar-Mounted faucets? What about both? At the end of the day, the decision is yours as they both bring multiple benefits to the table!
