The HI38074-100 are reagents for the determination of boron in irrigation waters by titration with the boron chemical test kit. There are enough reagents for approximately 100 tests to be used with Hanna’s test kit. These high quality reagents are manufactured in our state-of-the-art facility and are clearly marked with the lot number and expiration date on each packet for traceability.
The HI38074-100 are high quality reagents that are pre-measured, allowing for users to achieve fast and accurate boron measurements with the chemical test kit. These reagents follow the boric acid method to determine boron concentration in irrigation waters.
For determination of boron, a sample is first adjusted to a known pH value near pH 7.8. Since boron is a weak acid, the addition of mannitol reagent is required to form a complex that acts as a strong acid. The strong acid complex is then able to be titrated with an alkaline titrant. The number of drops of of alkaline reagent required to return the sample to the starting pH value corresponds with the boron concentration in mg/L. These reagents are designed to be used with samples that have an expected boron range of 0.0 to 5.0 mg/L.
