Drug interaction
Increased metabolism and toxicity w/ drugs that induce CYP2E1 isoenzyme (e.g. isoniazid). Reduced MAC w/ benzodiazepines, opioids. May cause ventricular arrhythmia w/ β-sympathomimetic agents (e.g. isoprenaline), and α- and β-sympathomimetic agents (e.g. adrenaline, noradrenaline). May cause crisis during operation w/ nonselective MAO inhibitors. May lead to marked hypotension and risk of additive negative inotropic effect w/ Ca antagonists (esp dihydropyridines). Potentially Fatal: Rarely, may cause increased serum K levels resulting to cardiac arrhythmia w/ concomitant use of succinylcholine.
