A Cosy Modern Retreat for Two Sisters in Old Klang Road Aeris Suites | Modern Minimalist Interior Design | Condominium Renovation
When two close-knit sisters in their 50s discovered a sub-sale condominium in Old Klang Road, they saw it as the perfect opportunity to start a new chapter together. While the 1,000 sqft unit came with existing furniture and built-ins, it didn’t reflect their personal style or functional needs. To bring their vision to life, they turned to Glassic Conzept, a trusted design and build firm in Malaysia, and gave us complete creative freedom for a full transformation.
The result? A calm, modern sanctuary that’s both stylish and deeply personal—a true reflection of their lifestyle and shared values.
About the Homeowners The homeowners are sisters who enjoy reading, traveling, and movie nights. They wanted a space that would not only support their daily routines but also feel peaceful and welcoming. With three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a generous layout that includes a balcony with stunning city views, the condo had plenty of potential. They discovered Glassic Conzept through their nephew, a satisfied client who had previously engaged our design and build services in KL and happily recommended us. Design Objectives The design brief was clear and straightforward: create a calm, cosy, and clutter-free home with plenty of smart storage. The sisters wanted a serene environment they could unwind in, with a focus on functionality and timeless aesthetics. Storage was a top priority, especially as self-proclaimed shopaholics, and they were also keen on a low-maintenance yet stylish kitchen for daily use.
Design and Build Concept We proposed a modern minimalist design, rooted in a neutral colour palette of beige, cream, white, grey, and black accents. This approach provided a sense of openness while ensuring the home felt warm and timeless. Every inch of the home was reimagined with custom carpentry,space-maximizing layouts, and built-in furniture solutions—a hallmark of our end-to-end design and build services. Open-Concept Living Area The heart of the home is a seamless open-plan layout combining the living room, dry kitchen, and dining area. A custom-built TV console with hidden storage keeps the space clean and uncluttered, while a cosy dining nook provides an intimate spot for shared meals.
The dry kitchen features a travertine-look sintered stone peninsula, which doubles as a breakfast bar, complete with a nearby sink for added convenience. Warm wood tones in the bar stools and cabinetry frame bring texture and contrast, complementing the soft grey laminated cabinets that unify the design language throughout the home.
Peaceful Reading Nook Next to the dry kitchen, we carved out a small reading and prayer nook—complete with a built-in bench and overhead cabinet. This peaceful corner offers a quiet space for reflection, reading, or relaxation. Functional Wet Kitchen & Laundry In the wet kitchen, functionality was key. We incorporated pullout baskets, full-height cabinets, and durable quartz countertops for easy maintenance. The matching grey cabinetry ensures visual continuity between the dry and wet kitchen, maintaining a cohesive design. Bedrooms & Walk-In Wardrobe To avoid clutter in the sleeping areas, we converted one of the smaller bedrooms into a shared walk-in wardrobe. This solution gave the sisters ample space to store their clothing, accessories, and shopping finds. The bedrooms were designed with built-in bedframes, minimalist bedside tables, and laminated sliding doors to conserve space. Textured paint was used on selected walls to add a subtle yet inviting tactile element.
Overcoming Space Challenges One of the biggest challenges in this condo renovation project was making the most of limited space without compromising aesthetics. Our team strategically integrated smart storage solutions and multi-functional built-ins to ensure every area served a purpose—without making the home feel cramped or overdesigned.
Final Thoughts This project is a perfect example of how thoughtful planning, trust, and creativity can lead to a home that feels personal, practical, and beautifully styled. The sisters were thrilled with the final outcome—especially the modern colour palette, clever hidden storage, and seamless flow between functional zones.
