The ASTM D5264 Ink Rub Tester evaluates the abrasion resistance of printed ink layers, PS plate photosensitive layers, and related product surface coatings. It provides effective analysis of print friction resistance, wear layer adhesion, PS plate resistance, and overall product rub resistance.
This tester is used to determine the abrasion resistance of printing ink. By wrapping the abrasion hammer in dry or wet standard abrasion paper and applying it to the specimen’s surface under specified load, stroke, and speed, the tester assesses the stain grade on the abrasion paper and the wearing degree of the specimen's surface.
The tester grinds the sample layer against the friction paper, with a loaded friction body rubbing at a prescribed speed. By measuring the density or thickness variation of the wear layer or coating before and after grinding, the tester determines the wear resistance of the layer or coating.
