Per Madopar 125 cap Levodopa 100 mg, benserazide HCl 25 mg.
Indication
Parkinson's syndrome w/ exception of drug-induced parkinsonism. Patients w/ all types of fluctuations (Madopar HBS only).
Instruction
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Best taken at least ½ hr before or 1 hr after meals, whenever possible. GI discomfort which occurs mainly in the early stages of treatment may be controlled by taking with food or liquid or by increasing the dose slowly. Cap/HBS cap: Swallow whole, do not chew or crush.
Drug interaction
Reduces levodopa absorption by antacids. Ferrous sulphate decreases levodopa max plasma conc. Metoclopramide increases levodopa absorption. Inhibition of action by neuroleptics, opioids & antihypertensives. Potentiation of effects by sympathomimetic agents.
