Enalapril maleate
Indication
Renitec is used for treating high blood pressure, heart failure, and other heart problems. It may be used alone or with other medicines. Renitec is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by helping to relax blood vessels. This helps to lower blood pressure.
Instruction
Use Renitec as directed by your doctor.

Take Renitec by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.

If you miss a dose of Renitec, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Renitec.
Drug interaction
This medication enhances effect of ethanol, slows excretion of Li+. Hypotensive effect of Renitec is diminished by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, estrogens, and increased by diuretics, ethanol, drugs for general anesthesia and other hypotensive medications. Potassium sparing diuretics and medications which contain K+ increase risk of hyperpotassemia. Other medications which may influence Renitec are ones suppressing bone marrow, immunodepressants.
