Estradiol hemihydrate 1 mg, drospirenone 2 mg
Indication
HRT for oestrogen deficiency symptoms in women more than 1 year after menopause. Prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis in women at high risk of fractures where other therapies are contraindicated or not tolerated.
Instruction
1 daily without a break between packs. Menopausal symptoms, continue only for as long as benefits outweigh risks.
Drug interaction
Known, past or suspected breast cancer. Known, past or suspected oestrogen-dependent malignant tumour. Active thrombophlebitis, active or history of arterial thromboembolic disease, active or history of VTE. Thrombophilic disorders. Acute liver disease, history of liver disease where LFTs have failed to return to normal. Severe renal impairment. Untreated endometrial hyperplasia, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding. Porphyria. Pregnancy, lactation.
Duavive: Also, renal or hepatic impairment.
Estring: Also, vaginal ulceration or severe inflammation.
