Azithromycin dihydrate
Indication
Lower resp tract infections including bronchitis & pneumonia; skin & soft tissue infections; otitis media; upper resp tract infections including sinusitis & pharyngitis/tonsilitis. Uncomplicated genital infections due to Chlamydia trachomatis & non-multiresistant Neisseria gonorrhea. Alone or in combination w/ rifabutin for prophylaxis against Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare complex (MAC) infection.
Instruction
Should be taken with food.
Drug interaction
Impaired metabolism of digoxin. Ergotism w/ ergot derivatives. Increased theopylline levels. Increased conc of phosphorylated zidovudine. Monitor cyclosporin levels. Antacids, terfenadine, coumarin-type oral anticoagulants.
