Instruction
For single use only.
It is recommended that, after opening the bag, the contents are used immediately and not stored for subsequent infusion.
For instructions for preparation and handling of the emulsion for infusion see Special precautions for disposal and other handling under Cautions for Usage.
Due to its high osmolarity, OLIMEL can only be administered through a central vein.
The recommended duration of infusion for a parenteral nutrition bag is between 12 and 24 hours.
Only administer the product after the non-permanent seals between the three compartments have been broken and the contents of the three compartments have been mixed.
Ensure that the final emulsion for infusion does not show any evidence of phase separation.
After opening the bag the content must be used immediately. It must never be stored for a subsequent infusion. Do not reconnect any partially used bag.
Do not connect in series in order to avoid the possibility of gas embolism due to air contained in the first bag.
Any unused product or waste material and all necessary devices must be discarded.
Drug interaction
No interaction studies have been performed.
OLIMEL must not be administered simultaneously with blood through the same infusion tubing because of the possibility of pseudoagglutination.
