Valaciclovir HCl
Indication
Herpes zoster. Reduces duration & proportion of patients w/ zoster-associated pain, which includes acute & post-herpetic neuralgia. Herpes simplex skin & mucous membrane infection including initial & recurrent genital herpes. Suppression of recurrent herpes simplex infection. Reduces transmission of genital herpes as suppressive therapy.
Instruction
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort.
Drug interaction
Increased AUC by cimetidine, probenecid, mycophenolate mofetil. Changes in renal function w/ cyclosporin & tacrolimus.
