As a softwood, Pine has over 100 different species. Colour-wise, Pine heartwood and sapwood are quite different between species. While the heartwood is reddish-yellow that darkens with age, the sapwood is yellowish or reddish-white. It has a striped or wavy, closed grain and is medium in texture.
