The Euchner CEM series locking magnetic safety switch has the advantages of both a non-contact switch and a keyed interlock, without the disadvantages of either. A coded transponder and a solenoid are integrated into the read head. When the door is closed and the actuator enters the reading distance of the actuator, voltage is applied to the magnet, locking the door shut with up to 1000N of force.
