Naproxen Sodium (550 mg)
Sunprox 550 /mg Tablet is indicated for:
Relief of mild to moderate pain, including primary dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation).
Treatment of inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), osteoarthritis (OA), ankylosing spondylitis, tendinitis, bursitis, and acute gout.
Dosage:
Rheumatic disorders: Initially, 550 /mg twice daily (bd); may be increased up to 1,100 /mg daily in divided doses.
Acute gout: Initially, 825 /mg, followed by 275 /mg every 8 hours until the attack subsides.
Dysmenorrhea: Initially, 550 /mg, followed by 275 /mg every 6–8 hours if needed.
Maximum daily dose: Not to exceed 1,375 /mg.
Administration: Take with food to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort.
Precautions:
Contraindicated in patients with active peptic ulceration, hypersensitivity to naproxen or other NSAIDs, and those with a history of asthma, rhinitis, or nasal polyps induced by aspirin or other NSAIDs.
Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, fluid retention, renal or hepatic impairment, and those with a history of gastrointestinal disorders.
Monitor for adverse effects such as gastrointestinal bleeding, liver dysfunction, skin reactions, and renal impairment.
Avoid concurrent use with other NSAIDs, including aspirin, and be cautious when combining with antihypertensives, diuretics, methotrexate, lithium, and quinolone antibiotics.
