(Kluang, 30th) Due to the increase in feed prices caused by inflation and the outbreak of swine fever in certain areas, the price of raw pork in our country has hit new highs. Mengkibol State Assemblyman Chow Chong Sin called on the government to intervene and provide compensation for swine fever and set a price ceiling.

He issued a statement today that since there is no price ceiling for raw pork, pig farms take turns to announce the price increase, and the wholesale price has doubled from RM670 per 100 kg in early January to the current RM1,350.

In view of the above situation, he made three long-term development suggestions for the pig farming industry, including urging the government to open up the original pig farming licenses in various states to increase the domestic pig farming volume to supplement the supply and reduce prices.

“Provide compensation for sick pigs according to the cost of feeding, and provide incentives for modernization to ensure food safety for consumers. ”

He said that there are about two and a half months to the Lunar New Year. Pork is one of the main sources of food in the Chinese community. He hopes that the government will intervene, provide subsidies in a timely manner and set a reasonable price ceiling to avoid affecting people's livelihood.
