Indonesia is reviewing its annual nickel ore mining quota to stabilize prices, according to Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia. The new quota will depend on ore demand and aims to prevent excessive production that could drive prices lower. Last year, Indonesia set a quota of 240 million metric tons of nickel ore annually until 2026, but there are considerations to reduce it to 150 million tons to support prices. Indonesia, a leading producer of nickel, implemented a ban on raw nickel exports in 2020.
