JPJ Recall: 41,688 Vehicles Affected, Including Civic Type R & e-tron
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced a recall for 41,688 vehicles from six brands due to potential safety risks. These issues include structural defects, faulty equipment, and system malfunctions that could increase the chance of accidents. The affected brands are Honda, Kia, MAN TGS, Ford, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz, with Honda having the highest number of recalled vehicles.
For Honda, 36,678 vehicles are affected, including 26,802 units of the Honda Civic (2022–2024),159 units of the Civic Type R (2023–2024), and 9,717 units of the CR-V. The issue involves steering noise and reduced smoothness when turning.
Kia’s recall involves 4,245 units of the Sorento XM model, with 1,384 units (2011–2015) at risk of rod bearing failure, and 2,861 units (2010–2014) facing a fire hazard due to an electrical short circuit in the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit.
Ford is recalling 288 units of the Everest model, including 8 units of the Everest 2.0 Titanium (2022–2024) due to a battery drain issue in the e-Shifter system, and 280 units (2022–2024) with a faulty front window anti-pinch system.
Audi has 168 affected units, specifically the e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT models. Among them, 48 e-tron GT and 49 RS e-tron GT (2022–2024) have brake hose fracture risks, while 32 e-tron GT and 39 RS e-tron GT (2022–2023) face stability issues with the high-voltage EV battery module.
For Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG, 18 units are being recalled. This includes 9 units of the S580 e (2020–2023) due to engine control lambda sensor issues, and 9 AMG models (2017–2022) withproblems in the transmission control electrical connector.
The recall is a precautionary measure to ensure safety. Affected vehicle owners will be contacted directly and are advised to schedule an inspection at an authorized service center as soon as possible. If any issues are found, the manufacturer will replace faulty parts for free, covering all costs. Owners can visit their nearest service center or contact customer service for more details. JPJ will oversee the recall process to make sure all affected vehicles are properly inspected and safe for use.
