Classical Vocal Teacher
Wong Zhi Duan, born in Sabah, Malaysia, is a distinguished classical vocalist who graduated from the Malaysian Institute of Art under the tutelage of Malaysian tenor Mr. Solomon Chong Kim Lung. He has earned significant accolades, including a bronze award in the Open Category of The 7th Sandakan Music Festival’s Classical Vocal Competition in 2021 and Third Place Overall in the World Voice and Choral Competition Grand Prix Finals 2023.
In 2022, Zhi Duan joined the Kuala Lumpur City Opera (KLCO) and has since participated in notable performances such as the Grand Night of Opera in June 2022, the opera "Carmen" in October 2022, and "La Traviata" with the MOV Art Company from Korea and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra in February 2023. He also performed as the main protagonist "Xiao Yu" in the "PhD. Recital: Musical Narrativity in Performing Selected Choral Works by Jin ChengZhi" at Sultan Idris Education University in March 2023.
Zhi Duan serves as the Choir Instructor and conductor of the Ampang Chinese Methodist Church Choir. In 2023, he performed at the "Lunchtime Concert" at Chung Hua Klang in June, held a personal recital at the Malaysian Institute of Art City Campus Performance Hall in August, and was invited to perform in the "Pure Joy of Classic: Joint Opera Gala Concert of Malaysian Institute of Art and China National Centre for the Performing Arts" in December.
In July 2024, In the opera production "Solace of Papan," Zhi Duan plays the roles of Japanese Soldier and Chen Yen.
