Tay Yi How
Cello Teacher
Tay Yi How has dedicated his life to the cello since he was 11 years old. After two years of initial training, he was mentored by Mr. Chia E Man, a graduate of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Since then, Yi How has actively participated in performances and competitions with his secondary school's Chinese orchestra.
From 2013 onwards, Yi How achieved Distinction in all levels of the ABRSM Cello Exams, from Grade 1 to Grade 8. His talent earned him opportunities to perform with prestigious ensembles, including the KLPAC Orchestra and the MCCO Orchestra. Yi How consistently impressed audiences with his exceptional stage presence and skill.
During his time at the Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA), Yi How was invited to perform at the Japan Music Council as part of the Malaysia Institute of Art Exchange Concert, held at the MIA City Campus Performance Hall. His academic journey culminated in a notable final semester recital, where he performed Saint-Saëns' Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Op. 33, showcasing his technical proficiency and interpretative depth.
Upon graduation, Yi How officially became a member of the KLPAC Orchestra, continuing to build on his impressive career as a cellist.
