Optimizing MIG Welding Processes for Seamless Multi-Station Welding in PeyMar Dental Chair Manufacturing

Optimizing MIG Welding Processes for Seamless Multi-Station Welding in PeyMar Dental Chair Manufacturing

Customer Pain Points:

PeyMar, a leading manufacturer of dental chairs in Mexico, specializes in welding metal frames and components for their dental chairs. They faced several challenges in their welding processes, including:

  • Inefficiency in Production: Traditional welding setups required multiple operators and machines for different workstations, leading to bottlenecks and increased cycle times.
  • Space Constraints: The manufacturing floor had limited space, making it difficult to accommodate multiple welding stations and equipment.
  • High Labor Costs: Employing multiple workers for different welding tasks increased operational costs and management complexity.
  • Integration Issues: Existing robotic solutions struggled to integrate with various accessories and welding machines, limiting flexibility and customization.

Solution:

To address these challenges, a customized solution was developed using the Dobot CR20A collaborative robot, combined with a seventh-axis sliding rail and a Miller welding machine. This configuration enabled a single robotic arm to operate across six different welding stations continuously, requiring only one employee to manage the process.

Product Highlights:

  • Continuous Operation: The robotic arm could weld one component while an operator replaced the completed part, ensuring minimal downtime and maximizing output.
  • Space Optimization: By utilizing a single robotic system across multiple stations, PeyMar effectively utilized their limited floor space, making the manufacturing process more efficient.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: Reducing the number of required operators and machines translated into significant savings in labor and equipment maintenance.
  • Customizable Integration: The ability to easily integrate with various accessories and machines allowed for a tailored solution that could adapt to future needs or changes in production requirements.
