Audio-metric Testing

Audio-metric Testing

What is Audiometric Testing?

An Audiometric Test is a hearing test that measures an individual’s ability to hear various sound frequencies. It is crucial for identifying early signs of Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL), a permanent and preventable condition caused by prolonged exposure to excessive noise levels in the workplace.

By conducting regular audiometric testing, you can ensure that your employees’ hearing is protected and that your company complies with the legal requirements of Malaysia’s Occupational Safety and Health (Noise Exposure) Regulations 2019.

Why Audiometric Testing is Important:

  1. Compliance with Noise Exposure Regulations 2019:
Under DOSH regulations, employers must conduct audiometric tests for employees who are exposed to noise levels above 85 dBA over an 8-hour workday. Failure to comply with these regulations can result in fines, legal penalties, and potential compensation claims.

  2. Early Detection of Hearing Loss:
Audiometric tests can detect Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) early, before it becomes irreversible. Regular testing allows you to identify workers at risk and take immediate steps to prevent further damage.

  3. Protect Employee Health and Safety:
Excessive noise exposure can lead to permanent hearing loss, stress, reduced concentration, and accidents. Audiometric testing helps ensure that your workforce is not exposed to harmful noise levels, promoting a safer and healthier work environment.

  4. Reduce Compensation Claims:
Preventing hearing loss through regular testing and implementing hearing conservation programs reduces the risk of employees filing compensation claims for noise-related injuries, saving your business significant costs.
