ULTRAFILTRATION (UF) MEMBRANE

Ultrafiltration (UF) is a purification process that causes separation of particulate matter from soluble compounds via utilization of an ultrafine membrane media. Ultrafiltration is a good separation technology for desalination pretreatment, reverse osmosis pretreatment, and wastewater reclamation, as well as for potable water production.

In various process and wastewater applications, reduction of dissolved ions is not needed but efficient reduction of colloidal inorganic or organic molecules is. Ultrafiltration (UF) membrane configurations and system designs are similar to those used in the single-stage RO process. Due to the large molecules removed by UF exhibiting negligible osmotic pressure, operating pressures are normally much lower than in RO systems. Typical applications include reduction of oil and grease and recovery of valuable contaminants in process waste streams. Ultrafiltration provides high product quality measured by turbidity (NTU) or silt density index (SDI). Besides that, it is tolerant to feedwater quality upsets and provides small footprint and less weight than media filters.

Veolia's ZeeWeed ultrafiltration (UF) hollow-fiber membranes are made with a robust life expectancy, providing confidence in your water treatment system’s operation and assisting you comply with regulatory requirements. ZeeWeed hollow-fiber membranes are used for drinking water, wastewater, tertiary and water reuse applications, as well as industrial feedwater and reverse osmosis (RO) pretreatment. The advanced technology is utilized in thousands of municipal, industrial, and commercial applications worldwide. Besides that, Veolia's ZeeWeed hollow-fiber membranes is capable of treating virtually any raw water quality to the quality needed.

ZeeWeed UF membranes give a physical barrier to suspended solids and pathogens to consistently create a high-quality, low-turbidity, and low-SDI effluent. Veolia’s UF membranes provide a lot of benefits for our customers as shown below:

  • Pressurized or immersed membranes to cater to the site requirements.
  • Reinforced high-packing-density hollow fibers allow for greater output in the same footprint and assist in reducing the capital and lifecycle costs for the application.
  • Physical UF barrier gives consistent high-quality effluent exceeding stringent regulatory requirements through virtually any change in raw-water quality.
  • Low lifecycle cost optimized through extended membrane life and low energy and chemical use.
  • Commitment to innovation lowers cost of ownership over the life of the treatment plant.

As the marquee distributor of VEOLIA Water Technologies & Solutions, TK Water Solutions is more than capable to provide suitable UF membranes for your plant’s needs.
