Jaecoo J8 Previewed in Malaysia – Bookings Open, Launch Expected in Q2 2025!

Jaecoo Malaysia has introduced the Jaecoo J8, its fourth model set to launch in the country. There will be two versions: the Jaecoo J8 Two-Wheel Drive (2WD) and the Jaecoo J8 All-Wheel Drive (AWD). The AWD model is the top variant, featuring a six-seater layout with two captain chairs in the second row.

The Jaecoo J8 is a D-segment SUV, measuring 4.82 metres long, 1.93 metres wide, and 1.71 metres tall, with a wheelbase of 2.82 metres. It is similar in size to the Mazda CX-8 and Kia Sorento.

The SUV has a striking design, featuring a large front grille and sleek headlights. It is also equipped with flush door handles that extend outward when unlocked. At the rear, it showcases a continuous tail light bar and dual decorative exhaust outlets, adding to its modern appearance.

Inside, the AWD version of the Jaecoo J8 in Malaysia features a six-seater layout in a 2-2-2 arrangement. There is an open space in the second row for easier access to the third row. The boot space is 738 litres for the 2WD and 200 litres for the AWD (likely with the third-row seats up).

Under the hood, the Jaecoo J8 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that produces 249 hp and 385 Nm of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, allowing it to go from 0-100 km/h in 9 seconds and reach a top speed of 200 km/h. Power is sent to either the front wheels or all four wheels, depending on the variant.

In China, the Jaecoo J8 is also available as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), featuring a 1.5-litre engine with two electric motors and a special hybrid transmission (DHT). This version delivers a total of 605 hp and 915 Nm of torque.

The full list of features is not available yet, but Jaecoo Malaysia has confirmed that the J8 will come with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a 540-degree panoramic camera. The 2WD version will have a 12-speaker Sony sound system, ambient lighting, and faux leather seats. The AWD model will offer a 14-speaker Sony system with headrest speakers, powered doors, and a built-in fragrance system.

Additional features in the AWD variant include a ventilated driver’s seat, a built-in digital video recorder (DVR), and Near Field Communication (NFC) for key card entry. It will also have Jaecoo’s Continuous Damping Control (CDC) suspension for a smoother ride.

For colours, the Jaecoo J8 2WD comes in single-tone shades: Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White, and Olive Grey. The AWD version offers the same colours but with a black roof for a two-tone finish.

Bookings for the Jaecoo J8 are now open in Malaysia, with an estimated price of RM195,000 for the 2WD and RM220,000 for the AWD. The official launch is expected in Q2 2025. Stay tuned for more updates!
