Why Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is a Must-Have

Why Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is a Must-Have

''It's not about me, it's about the uncertainties on the road. No matter how cautious you are, you can never predict when another vehicle might unexpectedly change lanes, leaving you responsible for a substantial repair bill in case of an accident.

Thankfully, there are measures in place to shield us from unforeseen accident repair expenses. To provide you with peace of mind, we present the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) – ensuring that you won't have to shoulder the entire cost, particularly when the vehicle is not even yours to begin with.''

What is CDW?
CDW, or Collision Damage Waiver, is an extra package offered in the event of an accident involving a MiCar. It sets a maximum limit on the amount you would have to pay for accident repair expenses. Consider it as an added layer of protection for the vehicle you are driving.

Is It Worth It?
Absolutely. Without CDW, you would be fully responsible for covering 100% of the repair costs. This means the entire amount would come directly out of your own pocket.

Instead, let's save that money for more significant purposes such as savings, investments, and other essential expenses.

Who is Eligible for CDW?
When you make a reservation for a Mi Car Rental, you are automatically provided with our Lite CDW coverage for free. However, you have the option to upgrade CDW package*. Upgraded package cost RM30 per day. The maximum to paid for each package can be found in the list below.

  1. Lite – Pay only maximum of RM2,000 penalty in event of accident. (Cost RM0)
  2. Pro – Pay only maximum of RM500 penalty in event of accident. (Cost RM30)

* The Lite package is automatically chosen for all bookings.

Please take note that there is a maximum price limit for each CDW package, which is set as a daily charge.

For Free Floating users, the Lite package is already included in the processing fee. However, if someone other than the designated driver operates the vehicle and causes damage, the CDW will not be valid.

What Does CDW Cover?
Our CDW reduces accident repair costs by up to 80%. In addition, it provides coverage for collisions with third parties and stationary objects, including damages to windscreens, tires, side mirrors, headlights, brake lights, and the car body. These are typically not covered by other car rental or car-sharing companies. To facilitate your claims process, remember to file a police report after being involved in an accident. Rest assured, you won't be responsible for paying for any of these damages if you are not at fault.

How Long Does CDW Coverage Last?
The CDW coverage will remain in effect for the entire duration of your booking.
