End of HID lamp and HID Control Gear Production

End of HID lamp and HID Control Gear Production

To our valued customers:

We would firstly like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support and patronage, which continues to be greatly appreciated.

As per the heading, we regret to inform you that the production of our HID lamps and HID control gears for which we have gratefully received your patronage over the years, is to be brought to a close at the end of January 2025. Furthermore we also request your understanding with the possibility that in the case of some product lines, there is a potential for production ending sooner than this date depending upon circumstances.

Set against the backdrop of a global movement towards Net Zero and Sustainable Development Goals, in addition to domestic influences such as Japanese Government schemes including the "New Growth Strategy" and "Fundamental Energy Plan", as well as the Japan Lighting Manufacturers' Association scheme "LIGHTING VISION 2030", the transition of the lighting industry to LED has continued at an unrelenting pace in recent years. Having already previously ceased production of mercury vapour lamps in December 2020 in line with the "Mercury Treaty" aimed at reducing burdens upon the environment, our company has been focusing on the expansion of its range of the LED light sources and luminaires which would replace the outgoing light sources.

Whilst our company has continued to produce metal halide lamps, high pressure sodium lamps and their accompanying control gears after the end of mercury vapour lamp production, the ongoing market transition to LED has seen the production volumes of these lamps continue to decrease year on year, with the sales of HID lamps and their control gears now accounting for less than 5% of turnover within our group companies.

Circumstances have led to a situation where it has become increasingly difficult to source key materials and components, with some of them now no longer available; consequently the continuation of production has become fraught with issues.

It is against this backdrop, that we have taken the difficult decision to bring our production HID lamps and control gears to a close. We would once again like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued custom, and would like to thank you for your understanding and cooperation regarding this matter.
