After much anticipation, vivo has finally launched the V40 series in Malaysia, consisting of two models. The lineup is part of its mid-range segment, offering fairly a Zeiss-tuned imaging system. Both devices are quite similar to each other, with the main differences being the processor and camera setup.
To start with, the V40 Pro is the top model, sporting a 6.78-inch AMOLED with a local peak brightness of 4,500 nits for HDR content and a 120Hz refresh rate. It runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 Plus chipset paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. On the protection side, it comes with an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance.
On the optics front, the Pro features a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP telephoto lens with OIS and 2x optical zoom, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP selfie shooter with autofocus. Powering the mid-ranger is a hefty 5,500mAh battery with support for 80W charging.
As for the vanilla variant, it gets the same specs as the Pro except for chip inside it, with the V40 running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 instead. Additionally, the base model lacks the telephoto sensor found in the Pro.
Additionally, the launch event also saw the local debut of the Watch 3, its flagship smartwatch that was unveiled last November in China. It has a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a rotating crown on the side and comes with cellular support.
The V40 starts from RM1,999 for the 12GB+256GB variant, RM2,399 for the 12GB+512GB configuration, and RM3,299 for the Pro model. Meanwhile, the Watch 3 starts from RM899 for the silicone band and RM999 for the leather band.
Both smartphones will be available from 31 August 2024, with free gifts for pre-orders including a DJI OSMO Mobile SE, TWS 3e earbuds, and a limited-time warranty extension. The new products are available through the brand’s Shopee and Lazada stores, as well as authorised retail stores nationwide.
