Paralympics: All eyes on Liek Hou to deliver Malaysia's first gold

PARIS: National para-badminton star Cheah Liek Hou is set to compete for Malaysia's first gold medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. Liek Hou reached the men's singles SU5 final by defeating Indonesia's Dheva Anrimusthi 21-17, 21-17 in the semi-finals. He will face another Indonesian, Suryo Nugroho, in the final.

Meanwhile, Malaysia secured a bronze medal through sprinter Eddy Bernard in the men's 100m T44 event. Eddy clocked 11.58 seconds, breaking the Asian record, and marked Malaysia's first track medal in eight years. South Africa’s Mpumelelo Mhlongo took gold, while Cuba’s Yamel Luis Vives Suares claimed silver.

Additionally, national boccia player Noor Askuzaimey Mat Salim missed out on a bronze medal after losing 7-1 to Colombia's Leidy Chica Chica.
