My daughter just turned 4 this year, and recently she kept telling me how much she loves drawing. So I brought her to a nearby kids' art class for a trial session. Honestly, I was more nervous than she was—I worried she might not fit in, be too shy, or couldn’t sit still.
But the moment we entered the classroom, she was immediately drawn to the colourful paints on the table. She sat down right away, put on her little apron, and listened to the teacher seriously. Throughout the class, she didn’t even look for me once—I was the one nervously peeking in from outside 😅.
She stayed focused the entire session, carefully choosing and matching her colours. I had expected some random scribbles, but she proudly walked over at the end with her painting of a big tree and said, “Mommy, I made this for you!”
At that moment, I felt like she had suddenly grown up.
Since then, she’s been asking to go back to art class every week. And I’ve slowly learned to let go and watch her discover the things she loves.
