Proton X50 Sport Edition Launching on Jan 16: Limited to 1,000 Units!
You may have seen it at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2024 last month, and now Proton has announced on Facebook that the Proton X50 Sport Edition will be launched in Malaysia this Thursday, January 16. You can watch the virtual launch live on Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube at 9 PM.
The car will be limited to about 1,000 units. As shown at KLIMS, it features a sporty body kit with a red front splitter, side skirts, and rear spats. It also has new black paint, a gloss black grille surround, and tailgate garnish (which was previously satin chrome), plus a red stripe on the shoulder line.
Other upgrades include new 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels, which are from a lower-spec version of the Geely Binyue (the X50 usually has top-spec two-tone wheels on the Premium and Flagship variants). The car also gets a chrome Sport Edition badge on the tailgate, along with door sill scuff plates and a Qi wireless charger.
The X50 Sport Edition is based on the RM101,800 Premium variant, so it uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine with 150 PS and 226 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
This version does not have the Flagship's advanced driver assistance features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane centering assist. “Stay tuned for a special announcement during the event!”
